Ferocious or Special mounts in Crimson Desert are new rideable animals and creatures, or rather, existing ones that have since been made tameable post-launch in the 1.06 update. There’s a huge amount of animals that have been made into potential mounts now, from Bears and Boars to Lion and Tigers and even Raptors. Below I’ll explain how to get mounts (that aren’t horses) permanently added to your inventory, and what you need to know about these special mounts.
How to get Special Mounts and tame them in Crimson Desert
If you want to tame a special mount like a Tiger, Lion, Wolf or Bear in Crimson Desert added permanently to your inventory after the 1.06 update, here’s what you need to do:
- Find the Special Mount in question and attack it.
- After doing enough damage, it should collapse to the ground, but it won’t be dead, only stunned.
- Approaching the Mount, there should be a “Ride” option. Trigger that.
- Once riding mount, go into your inventory and select some sort of food. The drop-down menu should have a “Feed” option.
- Feeding the Mount will increase its trust in you.
- Once the Trust reaches 100, an option should appear while Riding to “Take In” in the lower right corner. (Y on Xbox/Triangle on PlayStation).
- That will add the Mount to your inventory permanently. You can select it any point from the “Special Mount” tab in your Inventory to summon it nearby.
The challenge here is that different Special Mounts only eat certain sorts of food. For example, Tigers only eat certain Meat dishes, while Giant Iguanas eat certain vegetables. I recommend that you fill your inventory with a bit of everything before trying to tame a Special Mount, so you’re guaranteed to have you what you need. Make sure you have a few copies as well – some feedings can increase a creature’s trust by as little as 20, while others can do 60, or even 80.
If a special mount takes too much damage, you won’t be able to summon it for several minutes, though they can’t be killed permanently. Still, the fact that they’re allied NPCs even when dismounted can make them really useful against groups of weak enemies, like the Crimson Desert Karin Quarry battle.

Below is a list of all the new options for permanent Mounts in Crimson Desert, added as part of the 1.06 update.
- Bears
- Boars
- Camels
- Deer
- Giant Iguanas
- Kuku Birds
- Lions
- Mountain Goats
- Red-Feathered Raptors
- Tigers
- Wolves
Certain mounts can also have saddles equipped (though not all of them). Some existing saddleries in Crimson Desert now have expanded stock that includes saddles for some of the animals listed above. The Varnia saddlery, for example, now sells Camel Saddles. If you can’t afford them, make sure you use our Crimson Desert money farm.
Can you tame Legendary Animals in Crimson Desert?
I tested it, and no, even as of update 1.06, you still cannot tame legendary animals (with the exception of Legendary horses), like the White Tiger, even if you can tame regular tigers. It’s possible that will be changed in the future, but for now you can only tame the regular versions of certain beasts. The closest you can get is the ability to climb on them for combat purposes (as shown above), but you can’t ride them like that, just hold on and stab.
