Blending extraction gameplay with dark fantasy action RPG mechanics, Mistfall Hunter throws players into a world where every expedition is a gamble. A Dark Fantasy World Where Every Expedition Matters
Mistfall Hunter is set in a world consumed by the mysterious Gyldenmist, where civilisation has crumbled following the fall of the gods. Revived by a mysterious girl named Dew, your mission is to recover precious Gyldenblood and help restore the shattered Web of Fate.
That journey won’t be straightforward. Every trip into the mist is a high-risk expedition where you’ll battle corrupted creatures, rival Gyldhunters and towering bosses, all while searching for valuable loot. The catch? If you fall before extracting, everything you’ve collected is lost.
It’s an unforgiving formula that should feel familiar to fans of the extraction genre, but one wrapped in an atmospheric fantasy setting rather than a modern military battlefield.
Steel, Sorcery And Survival
Combat is played from a third-person perspective and places equal emphasis on melee weapons, magic and tactical decision-making.
Rather than locking players into one rigid fighting style, Mistfall Hunter offers six distinct classes, each equipped with two weapon stances that can be swapped during combat. Extensive skill trees, equipment upgrades and gem-based enhancements allow you to tailor each character around your preferred approach, whether that’s overwhelming aggression, careful crowd control or defensive play.
Precision also plays a role, with a free-aim system encouraging players to target enemy weak points while making the most of their growing arsenal.
Solo Hunts Or Three-Player Squads
While venturing into the mist alone is certainly an option, Mistfall Hunter has been designed with cooperative play in mind.
Players can form squads of up to three hunters, combining different classes and abilities to overcome the game’s toughest monsters while standing a better chance against rival teams competing for the same rewards.
The developers also promise an evolving live-service experience (yeah, we know, live service!), with future seasons introducing new locations, classes, relics and gameplay systems to keep the hunt feeling fresh long after launch.
However, one aspect Bellring Games has been keen to highlight is its commitment to competitive fairness. The studio says Mistfall Hunter will feature no paid stat boosts or pay-to-win mechanics, with success determined entirely by player skill, smart decision-making and teamwork. For a genre where progression and balance are often hot topics, that’s likely to be welcome news.
Ready To Brave The Mist?
Dark fantasy and extraction gameplay have proved to be a compelling combination, and Mistfall Hunter certainly isn’t short on ambition. Between its challenging PvPvE encounters, flexible class system and high-stakes risk-versus-reward loop, it looks set to offer plenty for players who enjoy tense multiplayer adventures.
Better still, Xbox players won’t need to buy in immediately to give it a try. That’s the joy of a Game Pass Day One drop.
